Karl Jenkins Award

ISCMS Karl Jenkins Award 2027

Participating schools are invited to encourage their students to participate in the Jenkins Award Composition Competition. The winning entry/entries will be rehearsed at ISCMS XVI and performed in the Gala Concert in Shanghai on February 28th 2027. 


Information for Entries
Deadline for Submissions: 15th December 2026
Deadline for Final Score Version: 15th January 2027
• You should write a piece of music that is between 3 and 6 minutes long.
• Your piece should be for SATB Choir.
• Your piece can be A Capella or it can be accompanied.
• The accompaniment can be for piano or other keyboard instrument, or any
combination of orchestral instruments (up to full orchestra).
• Your piece should be scored in a professional manner using a notation software such
as Sibelius, Finale, Noteflight or similar.
• The winning entry’s composer will be expected to register for the ISCMS XIV Festival,
to work on their piece with the conductor for performance in the Gala Concert. The
composer may also be a member of the ISCMS Choir, Orchestra or Big Band, but this
is not a pre-requisite.
• The winning composer will be supported by the ISCMS committee with suggestions
for small changes and edits if necessary to their piece for practical rehearsal and
performance purposes.
• The text for the piece can be in any language. If not in English, a translation is
necessary to help performers understand the meaning and context of the piece.
• You can submit your entry by dropping submitting your entry to the ISCMS Secretaries Paul West or Flemming Li by dropbox/onedrive link.
