A Princes’ Trust Ambassador, Katie performed in Scotland at the Opening of Scottish Parliament in the presence of Her Majesty The Queen, for JK Rowling at the launch of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince at Edinburgh Castle and aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia on many occasions.  Katie won the UK Song writing Contest in 2007 and was awarded Music and Culture Icon for Scotland 2004 by the Scottish Tourist Board, VisitScotland.  Katie’s 6 albums can be found on the official website: www.kt-a.com

 

Now resident in Hong Kong for 4 years, Katie’s performance highlights in Asia include the Shanghai Expo, the Irish President’s visit to Beijing in June 2010, the First Minister of Scotland’s ministerial tour of China in 2010 and 2009 and the British Prime Minister and the British Gold Medallists Official Reception at the Beijing Olympics in 2008. In 2011 Katie gave a performance at The Great Hall in Beijing’s Forbidden City broadcast by Phoenix television and her 2nd solo concert at the Forbidden City Concert Hall.


In 2009 Katie wrote and recorded a charity song called Day by Day, in English and Mandarin to raise money and awareness for the Sichuan earthquake survivors one year on.   Sponsored by Heng An Standard Life, Day by Day was launched at the British Ambassador’s Residence in Beijing and then later performed by Katie for schoolchildren at the epicentre of the earthquake in Sichuan where Katie donated over 200 musical instruments and books to the children with the monies raised.  The song has gone on to raise money for the survivors of the Haiti earthquake in 2010 and the Japanese earthquake in 2011.


As a leading light in Scottish and International music, Katie has played for many well known figures including members of The British Royal Family, The Malaysian Royal Family, Sir Donald Tsang, Sir David Tang, Sir Sean Connery, Sir Jackie Stewart, Sir Richard Branson and Sir Alex Ferguson.


Katie also regularly asked to play the role of Master of Ceremonies, having hosted many international events for Prince of Wales Princes’ Trust, The Marie Curie Cancer Foundation, Sierra PMC, The British Embassies worldwide and numerous private celebrations.   Her MA in Modern and Medieval Languages from Oxford University enables her to not only present in English but also in Mandarin, Spanish, German and French. Katie Targett-Adams

Katie’s musical performance is a blend of her angelic voice with the small folk harp (clarsach) showcasing songs not only from her own Celtic homeland of Scotland but also from many other different cultures and musical genres.

Joseph Hyung Sup Lim is a BMus clarinet student at the Royal Academy of Music, London.  He studies the clarinet with Angela Malsbury, the Eb clarinet with Richard Addison and is a member of an innovative Wind Quintet he has just started. He has received master classes from Patrick Messina, Andrew Marriner, Steve Cohen and Linda Merrick.

Joseph is a graduate music student from Dulwich College Beijing. Whilst in Beijing he studied the clarinet with He Yi in the China Conservatoire.


Joseph was offered scholarships from Royal Northern College of Music Manchester in the UK, Northwestern University Chicago, Indiana University and University of Michigan Ann Arbor. However, he decided to take up the BMus course in performance at the Royal Academy of Music, London.


After graduating from Dulwich College Beijing in 2010 May, Joseph took a gap year in Beijing to further his music and clarinet studies with He Yi.  He also taught clarinet students in the Year 5 and 6 Band Programme at Dulwich College Beijing and taught ABRSM Music Theory in the Dulwich Community Programme.


In March 2011, Joseph performed at Dulwich College Beijing and Yongsan Art Hall, Seoul, Korea as part of the concert tour titled ‘Three Clarinets’ with Linda Merrick (RNCM) and He Yi (China Conservatoire). The concert in Seoul was broadcast numerous times on the ARTE TV and the Internet channel.


Joseph obtained the LTCL Performance Diploma from Trinity College London with Distinction and has performed the Mozart Clarinet Concerto in A Major K.622 and Weber Concerto No.1 in F minor, Op. 73 with the Beijing Youth Orchestra.


Joseph has taken part in every ISCMS festival since the first one in 2008. He is looking forward to be back for the 5th anniversary of the ISCMS festival in Beijing and perform the Spohr Clarinet Concerto No. 1 in C Minor, Op. 26 with the Beijing Youth Orchestra.

During his time in Beijing Joseph won the International Schools Young Musician of the Future Competition in November 2010. He was Principal Clarinet of the Beijing Youth Orchestra and a Bass Choral Scholar in the award winning Dulwich College Chamber Choir. He has toured extensively to Shanghai, Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi and Seoul.
